Via Transilvanica (VT) is a hiking trail of about 1400 km in Romania, similar to El Camino in Western Europe and to the Appalachian Trail in the US.
VT starts at Putna monastery in Bucovina (km 0), visits Alba Iulia and it ends at Drobeta Turnu Severin on the Danube River. It is the Union Road, the road that unites, as its initiators dubbed it. VT was opened in 2018 and the route follows paths, dirt roads, some paved portions, generally suitable for hiking, cycling, or horse riding. The trail is marked every kilometer by personalized andesite stone markers financed from individual contributions. Currently, many happy travelers post their experiences on VT on Facebook.
To support Via Transilvanica, you can sponsor/ purchase andesite markers (only about 200 left) as an individual, group of friends, organization, or business; the sponsor’s name will be associated with the marker on VT maps in perpetuity.
Romanul Corp and the Romanian community in Connecticut can support this project directly by purchasing a trail marker (current price of an installed personalized marker is over $1000). Your kind donation will make you part of a great project also named The Road that Unites and which will help all of us share Romania’s beauty with the world (min $100 suggested per person).
No personal Paypal account is needed to donate; you can use a Debit or a Credit card.
Via Transilvanica is a journey of courage because it makes us rediscover landmarks and talk about who we really are, from Danube’s shores to the mountain ridges. Via Transilvanica is identity because it gives us the chance to learn about our history and to better understand ourselves as a nation.
This can be your symbolic contribution in perpetuity to promote Romania, its culture and its natural patrimony.
Share Romania’s beauty with the world!
