MEANDERS

SILPE GALLERY

University of Hartford / Hardford Art School
West Hartford, CT

The second exhibition of the group Romanian Artists Connection took place May 20th – June 28th at the University of Hartford. It was curated and organized by Ioana Barac, with the help and participation of the other artists: Iulian Budea, Luiza Budea, Liviu Cupceancu, Ileana Dumitriu, Ioana Hobai, Flavius Lucacel, Adrian Panaitisor, and Ion Severin.

Hosted in a  spectacular gallery space, generously provided by the Hartford Art School, the exhibit sought to explore the experiences that mold and erode our paths as we move through our individual journeys in life. What do we carry with us, what do we leave behind? What journeys have marked us, unfolding in our art? Through works of varied scale and media, our group of Romanian-born artists – practicing in the Northeast U.S. and Eastern Europe – showcased work that connects us across the geographies and time of our individual practices, from specific cultural roots, real places and characters to stories, fantasy, and transient 3D installations uniquely composed for Silpe Gallery.

REMEMBER WHEN WE WERE YOUNG

It’s hard to believe this is where it all started in 2023, our very first meeting and our first events together were for the national day of Romania at the invitation of  Dana Bucin, honorary Consul of Romania in Connecticut. We’ve come so far in such a short time!
