Mirela is the Owner and Director of The New Old School of Music in West Hartford, CT. She teaches violin, viola, piano, early childhood specialist, music on the spectrum/workshops. Mirela earned her double degree in Violin Performance as well as Music Education and has been a dedicated educator for the past 30 years. Notable achievements of her students include auditions to Juilliard pre-college division, auditions for select groups at Hartt School of Music, multiple students and their success stories at CT Regionals, All State Festival, Inter El, as well as abroad.

Mirela was recently appointed as a member of the Commission on the Arts by the West Hartford Town Council. She also serves as Principal-2nd for West Hartford Symphony Orchestra as well as Assistant to the orchestra director at Kingswood Oxford School in West Hartford.

One of Mirela’s interests is a long and assiduous research regarding the connections and benefits between music and movement as a form of communication, learning, coping tools, and autism. Mirela is also a certified teacher with The Learning Groove company, as well as Zumbini and she is licensed to teach their top-notch early childhood programs.
